No, not at all. In 2022 and beyond it means he simply took you out for a date interview and payed for his own meal, while you paid for yours. Good old days where guy pays for everything are Gone!

he might be either tired of paying, esp for those that are looking for a free meal, it has happened to me, or he may be one that believe things sshould be equal between men & women, or he may be cheap.
