I havs a guy friend who 90% sure likes me. During summer break he tried to meet up with me but since I felt uncomfortable meeting him one on one outside uni I kept putting it off until we met once and when uni started I kinda distanced myself from him since he had clearly misunderstood my friendship as something more. So recently even though we have very occasional conversation I have noticed that he has almost stopped contacting me (after almost 4 years of nearly constant contact) so my problem right now is, should I try becoming his friend again or keep distancing myself from him? Because I was okay with his friendship until he started acting like it was something more to the point many people around us kept noticing.
P. S. during my distancing phase I never once disrespected him and have always talked to him with a smile so I know he isn't hurt by anything rude.

I would def keep my distance still. It's clear that he liked you more than a friend and by you trying to communicate again he will get mixed signals. it's hard as women to have guy friends so even though you didn't say anything rude he will keep misunderstanding you.
I see but this is sad to suddenly lose a friend like this. For how long do you think I should keep my distance? I am a foreigner in his country and this may be my last year here so I hate to leave things like with me being distant, he looking at me but answering messages curtly.
You can be honest and tell him that you would like to keep in contact but just as friends
I dont want to bring up the topic actually so...
Thank you for your time tho
Keep a long distance.
Okay thanks but until when should I keep my distance before its okay to be his friend again
It wouldn’t be anytime soon for me.
I don’t think there’s a formula for that. You’re the only one involved in it directly. Your instinct is probably a better judge than anything I can say about it.
I see, thank you for taking time to reply
