Holy. Shit. This makes me sad. This should be in a textbook somewhere as an illustration of how women can sometimes hear something COMPLETELY differently than it was said/meant.
Not in a MILLION YEARS would I have ever guessed that you (or anyone) could possibly interpret his compliment the way you've decided to interpret it.
It's just fucking crazy.
That's what it is. No offence intended. But it's crazy.
You need to take a step-back from this situation and think for a second here:
Do you think that your friend was trying to suggest anything negative about you? Do you honestly think that HE was thinking: "shit... she's so fat... but I wanna say something nice... so... uh..." just before complimenting you? (note: That would be a crazy thing to think)
What happened was: Your friend saw you, and thought you looked great.
Your friend tried to convey to you, the fact that he thought you looked great. And you somehow have decided... that what he REALLY meant... was that you've gained weight and it looks bad? Is that not... fucking crazy? I'm pretty sure it's fucking crazy.
This is nothing more than your own insecurity. You have decided that your friend was REALLY making a comment on something you are insecure about. He was not. That was never in his head. That is all in your head. Entirely. 100% in your head.
This insecurity is only even 'attached' to your friends comment at all... because you have blatantly and purposefully-obtusely decided to disregard what he ACTUALLY said... and have decided that, in fact he said something COMPLETELY MADE UP IN YOUR OWN MIND.
Don't do this to yourself. This is not necessary. That was never what he was thinking. It was not what was said. You don't get to make-up the other person's meaning. He said what he meant. He didn't mean anything else. 🙂
Thank you 👏🏾👏🏾 straight facts it is my own insecurity x
I’ve private messaged you please could you follow me back so I can speak to you about something
I seriously doubt that he meant you have gained weight!
I hope so it will trigger my eating disorder
I don't think he meant to trigger your eating disorder. He said your gorgeous so accept the compliment.
Thank you xx
Welcome.
