If a girl is popular with guys and is often asked on dates would some guys pretend not to be interested in her due to intimidation or playing games?

Say a male friend would feign disinterest even though he asked her on a date many months ago which she did not realise was a date. Would he be clever enough to know that to stand out from the guys who are pursuing her he takes a different approach?

Yes, a smart guy would not chase a woman that is being chased about various other men. Because a smart guy would know that he would not stand out to her, and if he wanted to separate himself from all the other guys, he would take a different approach.

I have been this smart guy, and it has worked for me various times. It's not about being intimidated, maybe it is game play on some level. It's more like when you see a woman getting all this attention from men, it depends on how she reacts to it.

Some women really love it and soak it up like a sponge... when this happens, I am turned off by it, because women like that tend to get an exaggerated ego. I mean I am not going to even try to put out any effort with woman like that. Just because a bunch of losers are willing to jump through hoops to get with her, I am not going to it. If she thinks she deserves that type of attention from me, or that she is worth all that... then yeah, I am not going to give it to her and just ignore her.

But once she starts to show an interest in me and puts out some type of effort to talk to me or get to know me... then yes, I will give her a chance. She might be a great person, but it is on her to show that to me. I am not going to chase after her, if she already has like 12 other guys throwing themselves at her for sex, and she is loving it.

I would say the chance that a guy that backs off because she´s popular with guys or has many guy friends is low. I would rather assume that he will try to date other girls since he probably thinks that if he made his turn and she didn´t see the meet up as a date thinks she´s not interested.

He's... probably acting how he feels. At least he's not making any calculated efforts to feign disinterest with some complicated logic of it making him more appealing to you.

The other reason I'm quite sure he's not doing this, is because it's just a bad plan.

Dating a girl that is getting hit on a lot , it makes him feel like he has a lot of competition, Guys that really like a girl become territorial over her so if she is to type of girl that constantly needs validation to make herself feel better about herself that could be a huge turn off to a guy making him lose interest in her

He has changed his mind, popular among guys isn't a great thing if she can't maintain a good reputation. Because that would make her a pass around girl. I sure he learned something about you he didn't like between asjing you out and you wanting to take him up on the offer. Or it can simply be because you didn't say yes then and he doesn't want to be the guy you date due to lack of better options.

Why would some guys need to pretend not to like her? Contrary to popular belief and stereotypical media potrayals, a lot of guys are just not attracted to the overly super popular and outgoing girls, especially if the guy's an introvert who just wants to be left alone. He doesn't need to pretend because she simply isn't her type and that is that.
