To the guys, why do some guys eventually ignore girls that are interested in them even after approaching the girl first?

This has happened recently, guy usually approaches me and start talking or texting. It seems like everythings going fine, the conversations (edit. in person & text) are great, you clearly show interest in them and then suddenly they decide to go cold turkey on you, start texting less and less with long gaps between each text. Can't say that it doesn't hurt because why do you approach someone if you're planning on hurting them later?

It's maybe not intentional but they may have found someone else and have been told to get rid of other contacts and they complied. Otherwise they may have found something about you that didn't sit well with them.
