Why do girls ignore guys after a first date?

First date was 2 weeks ago, she ignored the few texts I sent her, until last week, where she sent a fb message stating that her cousins were in town and becuase of that meeting would be difficult. Waited a few days, and asked if she was free this weekend, which I got no reply to, and now she posts through fb that she will be going on a 3 week vacation. I even asked a mutual friend to try and contact her, but even she got no answer. What am I to do now? my guess is to put her on the afterburner and not contact her until a few months have passed.

Well in my case what happened was my date intimidated me and bored my fucking brains!! I went on two dates at 10:00AM in the morning which lasted literally 20 minutes on the swingset in my building... honestly I really really liked him.. But he turned his back on me so I stopped.. I'm sure it's not the same with you but there deserve much more.. I'm sure she was just trying to escape the whole it 'won't work out' thing.. or on the brighter side she just can't believe you guys are dating!! Trust me I felt like that.. and I behaved just like her... Just be patient everything will fall into place.. Good luck! :)

She probably just didn't like you enough to go on a second date with you, but is afraid to tell you that directly. Girls are often socialised into not being "rude", so she may think that ignoring you instead of directly saying "I'm not interested" is a nicer way of rejecting you.

If she's not contacting you maybe she didn't like you that much :/ I wouldn't try to contact her again for now.

move on and leave her, don't even message her. she's obviously not interested.
