I'm currently on a 13, 14 year break from dating if that tells you anything- totally fine.

After my ex cheated on me, along with having terrible luck with dating and being constantly rejected in my 20s, I told myself I was going to take a "short break" from dating and focus on myself. No dating sites, no stressing out over being single, just... relax.

I liked it. Like I was actually happier not trying to find dates and worrying over being single. So much so, those weeks turned into months, a year and... well yeah, here I am, lol.

It is actually healthy to take breaks from dating if you're not in a relationship. You can focus on your own personal goals, improve yourself, and do what makes you happy! You don't have to be dependent on relationships to be happy, nor should you. And, if after a year, you're ready to date again? Go for it.

It was for me. I did it. It took that long to get through all the garbage and be ready for another healthy relationship
