Is he making excuses in this situation?

Me and the guy who I used to be dating have sorted things out we are on good terms. We met up last week it went really well. He wished me a happy new year and I wished him a happy new year also. I messaged him saying ‘ hey how are you’ on social media but he didn’t reply over a day and I rang him to see if he’s ok he said he deleted social media. I said you should have told me he said he wants to see me tonight but I said no as it’s last minute he continued as mine when I am free I said the weekend I can. He says he cares and loves me but after there’s not much communication? But when we are together it’s all good and there’s nothing sexual involved. I just don’t know what to think is he making excuses should I give it more time for him to show me? It’s only been a week since we have met eachother. Also I was thinking to give him a call on Friday to ask him if he still wants to meet because if not I can meet my friends. Do you think he’s just having me on or give it some time? I can’t help but over think. Because before all this he was ringing up my phone asking me to meet him and stuff
