Then they're doing you a favour. Because most of those guys are likely approaching you on your looks or the way you dress (no offense) or where you are (such as a bar or a club) and are likely looking for easy sex. When you say you have or planning a job that can result in long or odd hours well that makes it harder to plan sexual relations.

If they were decent guys who had potential for long term they'd actually ask you what it's like about the field, whydid you get into it, etc. Show interest because working in such a field indicates you've a good personality & a caring nature - something good / decent / respectable men want. Men after cheap relations & easy sex don't give a shit.
