The reason for this reactive behavior may be that you still haven't finalized some things. I think you should try talking. Maybe he needs to express his remaining feelings more clearly and get a response. Expressing thoughts and feelings verbally is very relaxing for the mind. And you should tell him how you feel in a soft language. You should tell him how much his behavior hurt you. You should state that you expect an explanation from him, but you must not be harsh in doing so. When he sees that you do not blame him for what he has done, but that you’re hurt and you want to understand his reason, he will be more afraid and embarrassed to do things that will hurt you.

Don't do anything except explain to anyone that asks. He cannot ruin your reputation if there is no basis. Most people will judge you based on their experience and relationship with you.
