I would've checked to see if it was wet. Also look to see if there were feminine soaps or shampoos in there.

If another woman is comfortable leaving her loofah there, she will leave her detritus as well- scrunchies and hair ties, tampon wrappers in the trash, makeup wipes.. even check the drain for her hair.
