Ok thanks everyone for the feedback. I’ve seen a couple of people do this and have success but I did it and it went terrible. Like work became extremely toxic at a rapid pace. Then at my last job like everyone in my department was telling me that it works out believe me so they wanted me to ask out a girl that they said was taken. So I agree with all of you I’ll just be friends with her and stick to making money at my job and leaving relationships out of it

Datin a co-worker is not only a bad idea but it can get you fired. You should read all the documents you sign for HR very well and keep copies.

One thing for certain is that dating another in one's workplace heightens the stress level in that workplace. It is frowned upon and noted for ammunition as related to judgment during Reviews. Again, it can get you fired but it will certainly prevent promotion as it is a wrong example to set from a Business owner point of view.

Yes, it's always a bad idea to date a co-worker. Even if you have an innocent work crush on someone, keep it at that level and don't cross that line. When there aren't any blatant conflicts of interest (i. e. when they are your manager), continue to resist temptation and keep things professional.

I feel like it depends on the situation. If you two know each other well and have worked together for a while, hung out outside of work, etc. then it wouldn't be so bad. But if you just ask them randomly and start dating before you actually know them as a person outside of work, or before you've gotten to know them at all, I feel like that's when things get messy.

It also depends on levels. Like definitely dating your supervisor or subordinate is an automatic no for most places. But some places won't care if you're on the same level. A lot of places will just make sure you work different shifts or transfer one of you out. I also agree to some extent that gossip between coworkers can be a huge issue, as well as trying to keep personal matters outside of the work place.

As someone who had that experience, I wouldn't suggest it. No matter how you try to keep things private (normal couple fights or problems) people around you just love to gossip. It could work better if you're both not in the same departments/units, but for someone who values keeping personal life and work life separate, and peace of mind--it's a no for me.
