I think that all comes down to whether or not you can accept dating someone who isn't a Christian. I'm not a Christian myself. I think this has to do with your own personal views and feelings. I think it would be a shame for you to not see where things go... If you like this girl and you see potential.
I suppose it depends on what kind of Christian you are. If you believe that anyone who isn't Christian is wrong, and are destined to burn in hell for being non-believers... then no you probably shouldn't date anyone who you feel is an inherently bad person or at least... is an ignorant person.
If however, you can accept that people have diffent beliefs... and that's ok... then I see nothing at all wrong with dating her.
The one thing you have to understand though, is that this girl is not a Christian, and you have to 100% accept that. No secret hopes of MAKING her a Christian. That would be wrong. But if you can accept that she's not Christian WITHOUT FEELING THE NEED TO TRY AND CHANGE THAT... then you should definitely go for it. 🙂
In regards to your update: If the Christianity you follow is of the super-radical variety... then realistically no. You can't date her. Radical Christians are not accepting enough of anyone who thinks differently than they do. How can you date someone without trying to convert them, if you can't help but think they're "wrong" and that they just need to see "the truth."
It's not right to date her unless you can accept that she is not Christian. It sounds like that might not be possible for you. Which is sad, honestly. But I don't see any way around it. Sorry. I hope your beliefs become less rigid in time. 🙂
Oh, well then your Dad will quite likely have a problem with you dating her. But lucky for you... it's not his decision. It's yours.
So it depends on how YOU feel about dating someone who doesn't share your beliefs. Is that something that's acceptable to YOU (forget about your dad for a second. Just your own beliefs)
