Got broken up by my ex over a year ago. Longest relationship with 7 years so far. We stayed in contact for a year until we both decided its better to cut all contact. haven't heard of her and she from me since 5 months.
I still think daily of her, not strongly like at the start of course but consistently I find myself reminiscing about the past.
All my past relationships were longterm/serious, I am rather conservative in that regard. Thus no casual dating for me. I got on dating apps for reassurement and I am doing well. I just can't bring myself down to meet them and usually stop answering my matches at some point.
Im torn between trying dating as a way of getting over her or just letting it rest until she hopefully stops haunting my mind.
How did you deal with dating, after a long or intense relationship?

Seven years is a long time, and you can’t just replace her. Accept what has happened for what it is, and allow yourself time to heal. Doesn’t mean don’t date; just means don’t try to replace her because you’ll be trying to fool yourself and also hurting someone else.
I had a 4-year relationship and it destroyed me when we broke up. Took me almost two years to get over it. I made the mistake of dating too early (trying rebounds) and I hurt some people. Don’t do this.
It’s okay to date and be casual. Just don’t lead anyone on. Be honest about your situation and intentions. Women like that you can commit.
It’s up to you. If you feel ready to go on casual dates then go for it, but just don’t rush into anything serious too soon. I think you need to work on moving on for now more importantly, you can definitely try to go on a chill and casual date to see how you feel about it but don’t force yourself to go just bcs you want to forget your ex.
Yes, casual dating is fine for now.
