Broke up with me, avoiding me, yet trying to make me jealous?

My boyfriend of over a year broke up with me twice last week we argued about small things throughout our relationship but always got over them. Said he didn't want to date anymore last Tuesday and I tried talking to him for another try at it. A couple of days ago he decided out of no where that he can't do it he doesn't want to date anymore. It's summer starting tomorrow. I haven't talked to him since the breakup and I went to a party this weekend and he ended up showing up not expecting me to be there, while I was downstairs talking to one of his friends about what I should do. Everyone told him I was getting with his friend and when I saw him I explained that I wasn't and didn't want to try and make him jealous or replace him like people advise. He then went to the lake the next day with his best friend and some slutty girl. Avoided me at school yesterday and today he avoided me even more almost like he went out of his way to avoid me. We have a lot of classes together and he would move to a different seat across the room during class. He would be talking to his friends about how pissed he is at the guy I talked to and how he's going to put him in his place. But he brokeup with me does him worrying about it mean he cares? We were so close while we dated and so happy but I did become clingy but this made me realize that and I want to show him that we can start over and it won't happen again. He did say some pretty mean things to me though like "I just don't feel right" "did you really think it would go on forever" "I don't want to stay with one girl the first girl I meet my whole life" then he mentioned a few week break and how it would help but after my upset and frantic (unnecessary) questions when I should've left it alone, he said never mind about a break why would he have me wait for something that isn't guaranteed. Do I wait a couple more weeks then try talking to him? Do I move on, which is EXTREMELY almost impossible for me to do I don't even want that to be an option really, do I try and talk to him now before he gets too far gone and I don't get him back ? Nothing went wrong when he brokeup with me. We didn't argue or anything things were actually going great and out of no where he didn't want to date anymore. He was hanging out with his friends at the time. Today he also went out of his way to bring up a girl he talked to at a party this weekend, he went out of his way to talk about texting the guy I talked to (to his friends he showed them the texts) and then he started to explain something and said never mind ill tell you later. He completely ignores me. He brokeup with me after a year, over a text message. What do I do to get him back even though this makes it sound like I should just move on ... But I don't want to.. PLEASE HELP ?

Do I give him a hug on the last day of school tomorrow and sadly tell him to have a good summer ? Do I give him the pictures I printed off earlier the day he dumped me that I wrote cute notes on the back of? What will make him want me back?
