They can. Just like my parents were from different states, my Mom Illinois and my Dad South Carolina. Married in 1989 and still until she died in 2020. I'm currently talking to someone from Michigan, and have for like two or three years now. Talk practically everyday. Fingers crossed things go well. It's not easy I'll tell you that, but as long as both keeps the effort it will work.
