Depends on the strength of his principles. If he knows he ain't there yet and that he don't do well in relationship right now then he might very well stay out of them for everyone's sake, or just his own.

But most probably it's personal in the sense that you didn't make him feel it that way but he can do you in bed and maybe even be your friend.
It might be very personal, don't get me wrong. But there's no convincing someone that ain't ready or actually didn't want to without shooting yourself in the foot.

Depends. I had started seeing a guy casually, and he told me he wasn't ready to date or be in a committed relationship with anyone. But over time , I realized he said that so I wouldn't want go pursue a relationship with him. I found out he was dating woman, and he is in a relationship.

So he could mean just with you or he could mean with anyone. I'm a great believer in "time reveals everything you need to know about a person or situation".
