sounds like he was trying to be funny, but it just sounds dumb to me.
Kind of like a bad pickup line.
You hear it but if you have to stand there and think about it, it didn't work and you kind of end up with a blank stare on your face.
After further review, about 3 times I read it, is an online date playing video games better or would you rather meet in person?
I'm really not sure about the second part, but I also think his grasp on the English language is not that great, so maybe he is from another country?

I guess he is a gamer and wants to know if you would agree to a "first date" by playing a game together online.
There's your sign!
As one who has a job in computers and video gaming, he's asking about dating IRL or via gaming with headsets, so you can talk without meeting face to face.
Secondly, I believe that he's saying that he's not comfortable with sexual innuendos via texting or understands them well. I believe he's not good with them, as you could see from his final sentence. Plus, you should ask him about using punctuation properly, as in using commas.

he's asking if in a perfect world what would you prefer a normal date or playing video games together, I think 🤷🏽
I don't wtf he is talking about in that last sentence.
He does not want to offend or upset you by any of his activity... He want to be precautious proactively rather than trying to make you happier when you get disappointed due to any act by him...
I’m guessing you met in a game. He wants to know date IRL or roleplaying as orc and elf cybering each other.
Lol... He tried to hide the ask in a lot of words... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
