Should I message him first on a dating site?

I created my first dating profile two days ago, I already had hundreds of guys message me despite them not matching my description of what I'm looking for. I'm glad when guys message me first but basically everyone messages me except the one guy I want and matches?

Yesterday I looked at his profile and I thought it matches really well because of similarities and I think he's cute. He looks like an introverted type though but I'm shy too. He looked at my profile too then and today I saw he looked at it again. I thought maybe I could message him first though usually I'd never do that (because I'm very shy) and I'm scared he won't respond. I'm told I intimidate guys and that they're too shy to talk to me but he's online a lot so I assume he already talks to someone or can I be wrong? Would it be weird if I messaged him saying he's cute and that I really like his description and if I asked where he's from?

We like the same type of music only different subgenres of it, we also have the same Tv show listed in our bio (South Park) and we both like concerts and festivals

I mean it’s a start but lots of people like concerts and music. South Park is hilarious! But it’s better to message and let him know you are excited to be going to a festival this fall and ask him if he’s also planning to go or has in the past. At least that lets you be more unique and genuine in your interest aside from how he looks right?
