I really just need an opinion on what others think about this guy not texting first anymore?

So, I met a guy on a dating site. Yes, have brought myself to be on one and try it I suppose. I met a guy who was a little persistent, not too much, and so I messaged him back because he seemed nice. We seemed to get a long very well via messaging and texts. He was very attentive for a little, texting morning, day and night and then he just kind of slowly stopped. I would then initiate. Out of over a month the last two weeks, he has gone about three or so days without texting to which I asked him if he would like to maybe consider stop talking, or maybe stop talking until we can meet up since we live about ten hours away. He said he is looking for a long term relationship, thinks I am wonderful and wants to keep talking. But he still isn't texting as much. I know he works 13 hour days sometimes, but really a simple hi would do, but some times I don't get that and so I text him first, missing talking to him and not wanting it to end. Sometimes it is later so he is sleeping because he works at 4 am and so he will message when he wakes up, and then I apologized for texting while he was sleeping. He says he does not want me to be sorry and he likes when I text him. Why is he not initiating texts first though anymore? Seriously he won't tell me he thinks we should move on, he won't text first anymore, and he does respond a lot when I do text but I am really not sure what to do from here. What is your opinion?
