Do you think dating apps have made dating worse?

I’m sure this question has been asked before, but I’m curious. From what I can tell, it seems like it’s very isolating while attempting to connect. You see a lot of good things on paper, but it just leads to disappointment in person. Or the opposite where you see nothing but issues in text that you would never consider issues in person.

I wholeheartedly agree, that dating apps have made dating worse. Sure, it is convenient for people who work long hours, or have no time to go outside and meet people. However, this sets a new level of expectations, demands from a consumer stand-point. Anyone can flick "left" and "right" on someone, it is like "fast" entertainment. Relationships can be superficial online, or lead people down "pavements" where nothing will ever come of it. Some people are just lonely and string you along, or perhaps until they find someone much more suitable online. Then when or if you meet up in person, the persons expectations of you are skewed. Generally, people make up a fantasy about the other person before we have even met them. Ever heard of the fantasy "wedding" - dreaming about marrying your high school crush. Yes something similar, but happens often!

I had experimented with online dating, most have issues, bored or not looking for anything too special. Just a time waster. Meeting people in person, is a lot better!

I think it depends on who you are. Before dating apps, a man had to approach women and be able to socialize. It was almost impossible for the introverted shy man to do this. Dating apps have allowed these men to talk with women.

There are people who live in small towns where there isn't much in the dating pool. Dating apps allow these people to talk with the opposite sex in different cities.

Honestly, I don't know. It hard to say it's made it worse, but honestly, I don't know if its made it better. In reality its just broadened our ability to connect with people we otherwise would have never meet.

Now that may be a good thing, but it can be just as much of a bad thing? In the end anyone found on line are online for a reason. Sure there's a diamond in the rough out there... but who knows.

There are lots of bad thing about dating apps,

just pure money grabbing while exploting lonely people,

bots, which are purely there to keep the app look full and people keep swiping,

Apps which aren't designed to actually find one, but just so you keep swiping...

But dating apps also a good way for introverts, you can find a lot of people you would normally never meet, ...

Yes, it has made people lazier than ever before. Instead of going out, socializing and meeting people the old-fashioned way, they sit at home staring at their phone hoping their perfect partner will just magically appear. It really is sad.

Probably. I will admit that I just straight up do not pay attention to women in real life. Even if they try to start a conversation with me, I will keep it short and dry. Because there are women online to talk to. So why should I talk to her?
