Well, ofc people wanna spend time together irl when dating but is meeting people online really a good idea?

Or has meeting people irl has already ran out the expiry date since a long time ago?

How d'you know for sure someone you met online is genuine?

I think these are all good questions to think about before you start to meet anyone

I believe that dating in person is much better. There are certain things that you can't tell or feel if you meet someone online. That doesn't happen when you meet someone IRL.

Besides, it's easy to deceive someone online than IRL. Of course people can fool you in person, but it's easier to tell.

Also, no matter how great technology is, it will never replace the human touch.

An angle I think about a lot is accountability. If some online person treats you horribly on a date like sleep with you and ghost you, what do they suffer? If people don't even share the same acquaintances, what do they suffer?

@ZXCwWRQWz I didn't think about these factors. In this case, they wouldn't suffer. But the person who was ghosted and treated horribly will suffer. If they don't share the same acquaintances, there won't be consequences.

It is same as I see about internet. Like I can be total asshole to you right now and face no consequences in real-life because you don't know any of my friends or acquaintances; you can't affect the type of real-life reputation I value most. That is the huge problem in my opinion with dating people outside of any social circle or community to which we belong.

Online dating is OK so long as you stay uber realistic and keep your expectations very very low. But in the end there is no substitute for meeting IRL. It's best to ASSUME everything they've said to you up to that point is all a lie.

Online dating really means online introducing. It worked well for me. Write a message, set up a meeting. Of that goes well, go on a date. That's how I met everyone after divorcing. Now I'm remarried.
