Online dating valid or waste of time?

Personally I've sworn off the stuff. Put in plenty of effort and time, didn't spend a lot of money or anything. I'm a bit on the shy side so I didn't message first much at all, so there's that.
Everyone has different luck with it, and I do feel there's a bit of an advantage on the women's experience on the app. But whether it's no matches, bad matches, or anything else, all genders have the capacity for a bad time on it. Is it a useful tool, or a flawed approach?

My brother-in-law actually met his second wife on-line. It turned out well, actually.

He was married to his first wife before on-line ANYthing, so obviously was face-to-face, and the b x x x h lied her way through everything, sucked the monetary blood from him (and three more that we know of AFTER him). She always had a hoard of attorneys to cover her posterior, maximize destruction of her exes and support payments.

Moral of the story- you never can tell!
