What are your "go to" things for first dates?

My friend dated a guy that made the first date more valuable than the future dates and most guys make the first date cheap and then the later dates highly paid. My friend did not feel comfortable meeting a new guy for a date so she brought me alone for safety and I went to a Korean barbecue with her and her first time date who later became her boyfriend. It was a good experience but one thing I would have done differently if I was planning it is pre research topics that you could talk about. The guy was a very smart guy but not much of a social entertainer and did not talk much during the date, it was just eating and saying hi and buy and that was it.

Board game cafe, hikes, rock climbing. And follow up with dinner.

First date is rather be a coffee date then an expensive dinner or maybe an activity because you must aim for knowing each other more.
Second date and so one i prefer activities like bowling or walking on the beach

Probably dinner and a movie that was actually my first dating experience that same combination

Mini-golf in the summer. Movies in the winter.
