I have a crush on a coworker and have had other crushes in the past that I've taken things slowly with. As in trying to talk to them and building rapport well before asking them out. I've actually only asked 1 out.

Is taking things slowly a good idea? and does it work?

You can mess up moving too slowly just as you can moving too quickly.

It's also a mistake to emotionally invest yourself too much in a person before you know if they have any interest in you. That's what a crush is, but it isn't smart or healthy.

It's best to be confident and move quickly to request a date - but it should be a casual date. No fancy dinner or expensive activity - the idea is to talk and see if there is any chemistry. Get ice cream and hang out at a park or something. If she shows interest in continuing, great, and if not, let it go and move on. But don't invest your emotions too much before that.

Yes, if they know and trust you to some extent. If you try to act too 'cool' and detached or go a long time without speaking to them they will doubt your intentions and will move on (if they have a sense of self worth) because that kind of behaviour makes you seem like a player no matter if you are or aren't.

If you make it clear you like them and are getting to know them first, then that is a winning combination. But don't wait too long - if possible, it would be good for you to determine how long is too long to wait, but in my book it is however long it takes her to start doubting your intentions (as the more time passes the less and less she'll trust your ultimate motives if you don't make an actual move (or might just think you're not interested at all and put you in a strict friend zone)).

Yes take it slow because you don’t know who that person is. You don’t know their darkest secrets. You don’t know their mental disorders or mental health issues.

You don’t know the skeletons they hide in the closet. You don’t know who did what to them, or they did what to who.

Yes, taking things slowly may be the best thing for any relationship. It is a lot better than rushing into a relationship and regretting it later. You have get to know the person deeply and know your compatibility when you take things slow. Not every guy or girl is the same, but, typically, when he or she says wants to take it slow meaning start off little than work your way up with connection, feelings, and commitments grow in a relationship. Me and my crush took it slow by playing video games and reading manga books when we was in Middle School. But when I got her this giant teddy bear for her birthday, let's just say taking it slow went out the window for her; because that's how excited she was.

I have a crush on this guy and it seems like taking it slower then normal is a way to go. We are both shy and we seem interested in each other. Wanting to help me pass my test and even the way he acts when we are together.
