If the first date seemed a bit awkward but you knew the person you saw recently had an unfortunate happenstance, would you give a 2nd date a try?

Lets say you meet someone, schedule a first date and the person seems a bit unenthusiastic but when you asked "how have you been", they told you that they could have been better because after they scheduled the date, something unfortunate and unforeseen happened to them (maybe they had something valuable and important stolen from them). Would you go on another date with them to see if they're relationship material when they'd be in a better mood or would you just end it there.

And I know some people would say you should cancel the date if you can't be your best BUT

1. If it happened after you scheduled the date but before it happened, that would mean it was a last minute cancellation and that can be off-putting as well.

2. You might think you're recovering from what happened but when you get there, it can still impact your demeanor.
