I'd say that hurting your partner is pretty bad in and of itself, and thinking that it's ok to harm someone you're committed to caring for and supporting is ok suggests that you might not be ready for a relationship to begin with.
But if you really need another explanation, try this. I'm assuming if you're using the term "cheating" then your relationship was exclusive. Agreeing to an exclusive relationship is a promise to be faithful and generally exercise self control so that you only have sexual/romantic relations with your partner. Cheating is inherently breaking that trust, subsequently destroying one of the foundational pillars of an exclusive relationship to begin with. It's bad because you made a promise and then failed to follow through, not due to unavoidable circumstances, but out of personal choice.
You destroyed your own relationship. At least give her the respect of not trying to drag her back into a situation where she's likely to get hurt again next time your self-control fails.

Most people take cheaters back because: they have low self esteem/confidence, don't think they can do better than said partner, or they need you for something (ie: children, emotional or physical support, etc). Well first know that deep down she wants to get back with you. You have a bond and decent women never want to break those bonds. So you can start by using that fact to your advantage. Secondly tell her you had a moment of weakness then play to her ego. Because since you cheated on her her ego just got smashed. Say she was attractive I'm not going to lie. But baby she's not as smart, caring, and devoted as you. This let's her know that you have a deep connection that you and this other woman doesn't have. Is it true? It doesn't matter😆 You just trying to repair the damage you've done. Ultimately it'll be up to her. But if she thought enough to get wit you in the first place odds are she'll want to salvage this relationship if you're convincing enough.
Now the final thought. Next time you cheat on her be SMARTER about it. You can cheat on a woman multiple times and she'll take you back. But every woman has a breaking point. Keep that in mind.
As you two have a young child together it makes sense to get back together. If this was the first time you cheated she is likely going to give you a second chance soon. Be sure to point out that you regret it.
Ask yourself if you can really stay with her and not cheat again. From your comments you have a casual attitude to this and it seems to me you want to do it again. Best work on yourself and change your attitude. When she feels that you are really making a commitment to her and to your child it should work out.
