While looking for a partner you can have dates in parallel. I think it's great to make it exclusive some time after the first kiss, but before the first sex.

A friend of mine pointed out that you test drive before buying a car which would mean you try and have sex in parallel as well if you can. This gets you right into a hot mess, though, and anyway I need an emotional connection. So it depends on the person and on what you want.

As long as you're being fully transparent about your non-exclusivity, then yes. Most people choose not to because it gets complicated emotionally, but especially if you're just dating casually then technically you can if everyone involved is consenting.
