Is it rude to leave a date after 5 minutes?

I don’t like wasting my time when I’m going out on dates with women, and I can tell in the first 5 minutes if I like the girl or not. Is it rude to just leave after a few minutes if you’re not feeling it?

I think as long as you respectfully explain why you are leaving before you leave, it's fine, but why are you asking women out to dates before you even know them well enough to know if you want to spend more than 5 minutes with them? I'm guessing you are trying to meet girls in dating apps, and if that's the case, you are completely wasting your time in the first place.

Yeah, sometimes it needs a second, since you might not be comfortable with the other person yet or they're not. My ex and I didn't hit it off immediately on our first date, yet it became the best date I ever went on.

I have never laughed so much before on a first date like that one and immediately feel that spark once things started going. It just took a second.

You're going to run into a lot of issues with that mentality. Most gambles in life you don't know the outcome of, yet do anyway, since the reward might be worth it if it goes through.

Also, this type of situation doesn't have high risk, since all you did was just shoot your shot. By seeing if you two are compatible, but you're just straight up leaving before there's a chance to, so you are inherently wasting your own time by just going.

Yeah, it’s pretty rude. I’d say just continue with it, keep it short and concise. Maybe 20-30 minutes? Say it was nice meeting them but you don’t think you two are the right fit.


Next time, I’d suggest pre-screening better before meeting in person.


If they are THAT far off from what you expected, it would have been better to get to know them a bit better before going on a date.

Even at a fucking job interview, I would still give the interviewee the full hour to recover or impress. Even if they've bowled themselves out within the first 5 minutes.
