I would say that tolerating someone is nothing like loving a person.
"Tolerating" is a chore, a burden, whereas genuinely loving someone means that their presence is uplifting to you. You feel joy and happiness just being with them. You most definitely do not feel like they are a burden, or a nuisance.
I can see a secure couple joking about something like that, in a teasing manner, but if that's genuinely how your boyfriend feels about you, he doesn't love you, I'm sorry to say.
That's also incredibly rude for someone to tell their girlfriend.
