No. They are either woke or trying hard to appear woke. They're basically using a slur created by trans activists against themselves to make trans people feel better. I would find no common ground with her, so I wouldn't date her.
Yes, and actually I would prefer to date someone who is more conscientious and inclusive of minority groups, which is what a person identifying themselves as cis-gender is typically doing.
It's a simple and easy way of letting transfolk (and others) know you are an ally, that it's okay to declare your gender, and that gender assumptions aren't always correct.
I would never assume that saying you are "cis" IDs you as an ally of trans folk. News to me. And I don't feel the need to ID myself as anything on first meeting someone. If I'm on a date with a presumptive man and I'm a woman, I would guess heterosexuality seems the case.
By the second or third date if we liked each other, I suppose I'd make sure. But why bother if you never get past a first date. Doesn't matter if you DO self ID as a goat if the other person isn't interested in you, goat or not.
@Screenwriter I mean @zeitgeist057 is right, more times or not people use Cis, as means of showing support to trans people. See for trans, cis has real meaning, but that is because they are the one with the mental illness. It's like saying that if you believe in ghosts and that you see dead people, then cis would just mean you are real man and person, not a ghost acting like a man or person. So as @zeitgeist057 is saying is true, if you walked up on someone that sees ghosts, it would be nice to let them know you are not a real ghost, you are a real man and person.
But the problem is this, if you feel like you have to identify yourself as cis, it would mean that you really believe that there are people that can really see and talk to ghosts. And well all know that talking to the dead, has been scam of conmen and charlatans for centuries.
So when I met someone that feels the need to make the point to use cis... I am like yeah, weirdo... I just met you and I am thinking it might not work out.
Yes, I would date a woman who self-identifies as cis, as she is most likely not a right-wing conservative woman. . However, I have to correct your explanation about cis/trans: Trans people also have no choice. A trans woman was born with a female brain/mind in a male body. Put yourself in their shoes. This is a nightmare and no one would “choose” such a life. When a society further discriminates against such people, life becomes hell for trans people. This is also a reason why the suicide rate among trans people is so high.
You are correct I would not ever want to live with a mental disorder. But since I do not have one, I would never expect how I feel about myself to interfere with anyone else's life, or how they choose to live it. So, putting CIS out their kind of like that infringes on how I want to live my life. Like I was born in world were trans, or cis did not exist. I was happy with that, so yeah, I get it that people want to be happy, and I want them to be happy.
But I as a man, if I believed I was goat... I would not expect anyone else to believe I am a goat, unless I had a mental disorder then that might seem reasonable to me. So, in that way I guess I can understand how must be for people to have to live in an alternate reality. I guess it is sad.
But you also make a good point, anyone that calls themselves CIS is definitely not a hard-core conservative, so that is a good thing. But at the same time, I cannot imagine anyone, but a bleeding heart liberate to use CIS. And I as a moderate fine it difficult to except. Because I just feel it's not right. 90% if people are not ever going to get there on their own, and why the fuck should feel the need to?
Using CIS kind of puts it all on the other person to go along with it, even when they might feel it's kind of a bunch of BS. Like I have to accept your view of the world, and you are putting CIS on me, before I can even get to know you first as person.
You: *"So, putting CIS out their kind of like that infringes on how I want to live my life."* How? . You: *"Like I was born in world were trans, or cis did not exist."* The problem is that they have always existed. You just didn't see it. Or others just kept it a secret out of fear of discrimination or punishment. The same thing with homosexuals 100 years ago. . You: *"But I as a man, if I believed I was goat... I would not expect anyone else to believe I am a goat"* It's not about belief, it's about discrimination. If you believed you were a goat, you still wouldn't want people to discriminate against you because of it. The same thing with trans-gender. . You: *"90% if people are not ever going to get there on their own, and why the fuck should feel the need to?"* For me it's just a word. Human language changes over time.
You ask how? It's like I am not a big religious guy. I am not an atheist, but if meet someone and they bring up Jesus more than once in the first 5 minutes you just know it's not going to work for me. Like I do not go to church regularly, and I do not live my life worried about what Jesus thinks of me.
Right, I agree about the prejiuce factor against homosexuals and the like... but that is because there was underlying understand that it's not exactly the way the world turns... so live your life how you want to, but do not put on me in anyway. So, if we meet and the first thing, we talk is about is gay rights, I am put off. It's not something that really affects me directly, and it's not a something I want to deal with regularly.
Word do change, but we do not redefine their root meaning.
You: *"It's like I am not a big religious guy. I am not an atheist, but if meet someone and they bring up Jesus more than once in the first 5 minutes you just know it's not going to work for me."* But no one forces you to live like a Christian. . You: *"so live your life how you want to, but do not put on me in anyway."* That's exactly what transgender want. A trans woman wants to live like a woman. She doesn't force you to live like her. . You: *"Word do change, but we do not redefine their root meaning."* The meanings of words also change over time and sometimes words take on additional meanings depending on the context. For example, the word turkey. Whether it is an animal or a country depends on the context.
No one forces me to live like Christian... but you are putting your religion on me every time you talk to me about Jesus, knowing I am not Christian and I don't care to be.
Word over time context changes, not words.
Dude you seriously are just grabbing at words and trying to create confusion where there is none.
I like the way you out it. “presumed for you at birth”. It’s not far from that. As psychology and hermy’s aren’t looked for. And really shouldn’t be by ER docs. Or gynos.
I guess I don’t see a real issue. I just see people wanting to seen and called “fill in the blank”. And people against it have no evidence but they think it’s always an open door to sex offenders…
I wouldn't spend more than 2 seconds in front of a person that uses that word, unless they say they want therapy and I help them find a therapist. It's beyond mentally ill projection trying to suck me into their mind confusion.
To put is simply, yes. Some people, especially women, and because they are more agreeable than men, pick up social trends and lingo. But it's not always because she subscribes to a subset of radical politics, but just because its trendy and cool. So no, it would not completely turn me off.
If I was single, no, not if she actually referred to or thought of herself as "cis". The fact that we now have a term for what ten years ago was just a man or a woman is quite silly. Part of me thinks it's an attempt to maks everyone LGBT in some way and I'm not going to play the game or by their rules by thinking of or referring to people as "cis".

Can't we all just agree that this shit is retarded? Or better yet, if 90%+ of us can agree that this shit is retarded, can't we get back to just laughing at the other <10%, calling them retards, and going from there?
If they think they're superior because of their apparent "normalcy" then we're gonna have a problem with this. Otherwise, it's fine. Identify with whatever you want, who cares? Just keep your amatonormativity and heteronormativity away.
Is it stereotyping or Heteronormative to ask what cis really means? I mean I am not stereotyping them, they are doing it to themselves by their own identity, and they are putting that amatonormativity and heteronormativity on themselves. Like I never would of thought a thing if they did not on their own part go out of their way to make the point that they are Cis.
And basically they said they were CIS, I was like okay so you're a woman that identifies with being a woman, and you prefer men.
She was like not I do not prefer men, I only date men.
I sais okay so you are straight heterosexual woman then, and you are using CIS why?
Her answer was because she stands in solidarity with the LGBTQ community. So she uses Cis so that she stands with them.
I was like okay, so you're just a straight heterosexual woman, that stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ community... so that is basically the only difference between a woman and cis woman?
And she was like no, cis expresses your identify and sexual ordination. So being cis just makes you a woman, that likes men then... ie... heterosexual woman, again why Cis?
it just went around in circles, in the end it was about solidary and support to the LGBTQ community... not me stereotyping or pushing my heterosexual ideas on anyone, actually it was the opposite. She was putting her views on me.
100% the point... why is something so basic and simple so confusing for no reason? Think, feel, be whatever you want... because you are who you are and most of us do not change all that much over time.
@anon1903. I think its because people want to put labels onto themselves... then feel this need to live up to them, every day in every way. Which honestly is not what it's supposed to be about.
You do you... but tell me your cis when I never asked... nope something ain't right a out that.
Why would I be associated with someone who uses a term to identify them selves thst was invented by a German child rapist? Nah I don't need that kind of stupidity in my life.
I hear that, I mean in my experience, it doesn't stop with the use of the term or phrase, its only how it starts. So, it's not a RED Flage, but a definite YELLOW flag meaning proceed with caution.
i don't subscribe to the insanity of todays society, it is way out of control. so no

It depends on them as a person and how they go about it. If they bring it up all the time or try to get me to use cis then I wouldn't see it working out. But if they just said they identify as a cis woman then I see no issues. It's just I guess mostly how they are about the whole thing.
If she isn't happy to call herself a "female" and she wasn't born a "female," she won't be dating me. No other term is acceptable even if it means the same thing because I don't date brainwashed women.
I heard Elon banned the term, and people were furious with him. So I looked into it, and figured out why he banned it. People (like myself) just thought that "cis" meant straight or heterosexual. But if that was the case, then why not just call us straight or heterosexual?
People insisted that cisgender wasn't a slur, but I don't know about you, but I'd rather not be called a pedo.
No because we aren't cis, we are male or female do not label us otherwise, you all want to me labelled something else then that's great but don't mislabel the rest of us.
Normal isn't something to emulsify with stupid. Abnormal is what's the confused , irregular , unbalanced , unparalleled , punequivocal ipece of shit here. Just putting it straight...
