Is it risky to eat spaghetti on a first date?

It's risky because of the sauce. Maybe go for lasagna or cheesy linguine instead. With lasagna you can at least use a fork and knife to cut it, but even that could be a slippery disaster all on its own if you're not careful. Only other reason I wouldn't suggest italian food is because of the possibility of it making your breath stink.

If you twirl it round your fork loads (like below), then it's way less messy because it doesn't hit your chin. I'd still eat spaghetti on a date personally. It's too delicious! And if he's gonna lose interest because of spaghetti, then that's not the type of guy I want anyway!

If that’s what you want to do. Coffee is a better first date. It’s easy to bail. It’s much harder to bail if you’re eating at a restaurant. It’s more awkward. There is the issue of paying the tab. If you just run out you can be charged for theft of services (yes this has happened).

But if you want spaghetti go have it lol

That’s up there with ribs as one of my “absolutely not” date meals. Honestly, even salads can be dangerous. Ideally, you want something you can cut into small portions with a fork and knife, so you always get a small bite that doesn’t cause you to contort face like a weirdo to eat it, lmao. Some kind of a piece of meat, and sides that have good structure, like mashed potatoes, broccoli, etc. Whatever needs to be done to go 100% on taking clean bites.

It is not a graceful food to consume. My mother said I had to eat a plate of spaghetti while wearing a white turtle neck and not get a drop on me before she woulde trust me at dinner parties. I did it once.

Depends, some restaurants will give you a bib to wear if you are eating spaghetti. However on a first date, I would definitely stay away from any type of food that can be messy.
