Do you think dating and society is messed up?

Question

I’m in a friend group, 3 of us. All single. We’re all above 6 foot. All fit + in good shape. Varying levels of handsomeness. I’m handsome. We’re all Ivy League universities, studying law, medicine and computer science.

None of us have had girlfriends. We’re all like guys that are balanced, have fun. But no chicks. We have high standards, but shouldn’t we?

We are 24,25,26.

I agree it's messed up, from personal experience.

Now, I wouldn't exactly call myself attractive, maybe even below average looking, but here's the kicker: I've been asked out more than 10 times. That's 10 chances at a relationship with pretty attractive girls, even though I'm not ticking all the boxes for traditional good looks. What's interesting is that these situations all seem to come down to one thing: money. Now, you guys, with your good looks and promising careers, might expect the romantic attention to be pouring in, right? Surprisingly, it's not playing out that way for you.

It's a bit unsettling to realize that I've had better luck in the relationship department compared to folks like you, and it all boils down to financial status. It's got me thinking about how the dating game is kind of off these days. Genuine connections seem harder to find, and relationships often seem to revolve around external factors, like how much is in your bank account. The times I've been asked out had nothing to do with my personality – these people weren't even friends, they didn't know me at all, It was all about the money, highlighting this weird trend in how we approach relationships nowadays.

But you might want to look over your standards and compare it to actual data, just to make sure it's not astronomically high.

Whats messed up is people who settle unnerve the people who don't.

The worst people marry the quickest. The best people wait for a perfect match to show up.

It eventually comes, but its almost never quick. You gotta stop comparing achievement clocks with people.

Ignore society, get things done at your own pace.

Society is definitely messed up, but dating is not so different than it used to be. Just as it was decades ago, if the level of women that you are interested in aren't interested in you back, it's because they see you as beneath them. In short, your standards are too high.

I don’t respect lawyers that defend criminals in court. I think they deserve the same punishment as the criminals they defend if not double or triple their punishments.

Well first of all, your English does not appear to reflect an Ivy League education, unless of course standards are dropping. If a person sets their expectations too high and are not realistic, then they will never data. In addition to that, listening to social standards and what social media says will also most likely result in single people.

Maybe it’s your personality that’s lacking and is turning people off. Just because you’re conventionally attractive doesn’t mean that you’re entitled to a girlfriend. You still gotta work for it. Maybe you don’t appeal to the type of women that you’re after for some reason?
