what age gap are you good with in a relationship? whats the oldest or the youngest you would date?
+1 ySome of the answer to this question will depend on the individual. I usually don't go older than myself. I usually don't associate with people my own age either or just slightly younger. Because I'm a little more youthful minded I guess you can say. And usually after the age of 37, 36, my ex-wife started drying up like 34-35. And then she got worse as a couple more years went by. And now she's really dried up. And she's probably going to be drying up even more as time goes on. And, I like somebody who's alive. And, sometimes women feel that what they used to do when they were younger, that provided them fun and entertainment and internal youth. That they don't want to do anymore. They want to do old hag type of things. And, I don't want to progress in the future with somebody that wants to do old hag things.
But, as far as how young I would go, that really all depends on her maturity level. A lot of times women don't start to mature until they're 50s. So I'm never do. And I deal with a lot of game playing by women multiple times on daily basis. And I see how much of immaturity there is in the female gender and I roll my eyes to it every time I see it. And this immaturity can be young or old. I guess it all depends on your mindset and wanting to improve your mind. If you're stubborn and don't want to improve your whole life then you grow old with the same thinking you had when you were younger. And, some are really big into self-improvement.
But, and usually typically older women, they don't really usually look that great. And there is many different reasons why. And when you grow old with the thinking that maybe you had, you keep doing them thinking that it makes you look better and it doesn't it makes you look worse and they're not open to criticism because they've been doing that their whole life. And they feel that they're a woman and they need to do this.
So, pretty much I would say it really depends on the woman. As long as I won't go to jail for being with her. And as long as in the mind the body and the Soul she's young enough, because I'm looking to spend an eternity with somebody. And when you look at pictures of older women, you can tell by what you're getting. If their face frowns downward, I call that a frowny Downy. Then you know that they're miserable person. Because it takes energy in your face muscles to make your mouth frown down. And if you're taking a picture of yourself in a normal face, and your mouth goes downward, then that means you've had the frowny downies for a long time and your face got stuck that way.
But, normal people's mouth when they're not smiling, is just naturally horizontal. So, you can totally tell if you had the family downies your whole life if your face goes downward. And, you can tell by somebody who smiles a lot by the cracks in their cheek in around their eyes. So, if you peruse a lot of dating websites, then you know what I'm talking about if you're a male. Some of these women just don't even deserve to be out there looking like that. Especially if you need yourself War Tooth. And yes, there is a single woman in my neck of the woods that's on multiple dating apps, and that's what she named herself and she looks like she has the frowny downies.01 Reply- +1 y
Oh my this answer should be so insulting but I love it and get it. I see we are close in age too. And I have same problem but with men around my age. On dating apps most men in their late 30's up look like old men! Time was not kind. I think maybe men play, drink, smoke and party hard in their 20's and they pay for it later as they age real fast! And men over 35 are so bitter towards women too. They been burned! As have I. But I don't go thinking every guy must be a jerk or drunk or user or cheat and accusing them all straight up when only in dating phase. I feel young at heart. I want a man who is responsible enough to do the "adult" things like holding down a job but can be silly, sexy, energetic and fun too!

+1 yI am open to anyone of legal age, but I think in the teen range there are not so many who I click with, just because of maturity and interests. Though I say anyone because there are always those who can surprise you if you get to know them. Once you move into 20s, I find many more women who I connect with. My girlfriend is 23, and that's a 23 year age gap (I'm 46). It's one of the best relationships of my life, I am very in love with her.
On the upper end, I also would not put a limit, though I tend not to be physically attracted to many older women. I do enjoy their company and have several friends, I even enjoy flirting with them, but when it comes down to relationships and sex I'm not typically wanting to go that far. The oldest I have dated was 10 years older than me, and it was not a good experience overall, but I don't think that means other women would be the same way.

23 year age gap! Tell us your ways? Tips and tricks for getting a younger woman?
- +1 y
@SixFootSexy one girlfriend once told me that women are like deer; if you want them to come to you, you have to simply be patient, gentle, and offer something nice (like holding a handful of food). On the other hand, it's good to be a little flirty always, even with people you're not intentional about, because you are going to be well liked by a lot of people. Women, both young and old, are influenced by those around them, more than just you. So if they see you have a good friends group and their friends like you as well, then they will be more open to you.
A lot of "getting a younger woman" is the same as getting any woman: listen, be patient, kind, fun. Give them the attention they enjoy, make them feel good, that kind of thing. For younger women specifically, do things where you will meet them such as going out where younger people hang, do younger events, take college classes. Above all, be real, genuine, don't try to trick anyone into liking you. Let the ones who don't like you for who you are, go. There are heaps of younger women who like older men, they are just looking for a chance to interact. - +1 y
@SixFootSexy when I was 19 I fell for a man who was 31, who became my husband (not together anymore tho). But the qualities I was looking for at that age was a "manly" man. Someone who would be protective. Someone who could be silly and funny, kind and not afraid to show their emotions. But largely it was physical attraction and at that age I liked men 10 years older than me. 30's seemed a good age group. I couldn't stand the 'boy" look of guys my age or immaturity. Which is weird because I totally switched round now.

@zeitgeist057 Thanks for the advice. It seems solid, I know my main problem is I don't hang out with enough women. I started taking an acting class... not really as a career, just a hobby, and met a few women from that but seems like they are mostly married so I'll probably drop out.

@SixFootSexy he was an alcoholic. A functional one because he still kept his job. But he was in debt from spending his wages on alcohol going out which I helped sort him out. He also wet the bed when drank too much so I had to be the strong one preventing him from overdrinking. He couldn't sleep without a bottle of wine or half a bottle of whiskey a night. I was young and naive. And I didn't want people to think we were not perfect. Plus my loyalty to him as my husband, made me keep it a secret for a long time. He was a good kind man. But the bigger problems came with fertility issues and he wouldn't get a sperm test or give up/cut down his drinking and smoking whilst I made lots of changes to help my fertility. It slowly eroded us. We were together 12 years. The final straw was once our daughter was born he was incapable of being a father and I was completely burned out coping.

@SixFootSexy he recently had a stroke. He has still gone back to drinking and smoking. It's very sad as he never bonded with his daughter, who is now 17.

@SixFootSexy I wouldn't give up on your acting class completely. Part of what I said is about building a community. Don't "toss a girl out" bc she's married or has a boyfriend. Be friends, she's bound to also have friends. There's nothing better than a recommendation from a friend.

Women are an expensive luxury. I make decent money, but it's tough when it's not a steady source of income.
- +1 y
@SixFootSexy I never paid a woman to be with her, never even required to pay for dinner. I’ll invite her out if I want, but I’ve gotten by just fine on cheap dates, making dinner at home, a hike or other sport, take her for a motorcycle ride. 40 miles to the gallon, a ride to a beautiful view might cost $2.
- +1 y
@SixFootSexy really? I never expect a guy to buy or pay anything for me. Of course if we lived together then bills etc should be a 50/50 split.

+1 y21-47 probably
I have always liked younger men physically, but I have always found them intellectually and emotionally less mature. If it was just for sex, I’d go for them, but I’m not interested in just sex.
The oldest was 46, few months ago when I was 26.
My ex was 1 year older than me. We were together when he was 23-27 and I was 22-26.
Even though he was very mature, responsible and smart, he was still very young and made some mistakes, I’d not expect an older man to make.
That’s why after breaking up with him, I raised the upper age limit.

The oldest I dated- I mean.
+1 yI like to keep an open mind. My only limits with this are of course when it comes to underage and people who aren’t in it for the right reasons. Otherwise I look at personality and connection rather than the number 🙂

u +1 yI doubt that I would ever have anything in common with a girl younger than 50, and most likely wouldn't have common interests with a girl under 60. (My fiancee is 60 years old but Chinese-American and not like most American women.) The oldest I would date would be early 80's, if she was a healthy and active woman.

+1 yI want a guy I view as a brother so if he is too young to be a brotherly figure or too old to be a brotherly figure, then he is not the man for me. He should be neither above me nor beneath me but equal to me or only slightly above me.

10 ReplyInteresting. Cos its easy to hook up with guys a lot younger than me. I recently slept with a 19yr old. Dating him though would be a bit weird but I'd say screw what other people think and give it a go if we connected well and he wanted to. But when I think of 'real relationship ' potential I think guys between 34 and 46 are my range. But it's hard to find attractive guys in that range when you can get guys in their 20's! I am trying though. And my ex hubby was 12 years older than me so main reason I am put off older guys now is because of him. He is now 56. And my last boyfriend of 3 years was 23 when I was 33. So yeah, maybe like others said, it shouldn't really about age but compatibility.
20 Reply741 opinions shared on Dating topic. I think the oldest person I went on a date was 38 a few months ago. It was honestly one of my best dates. In regards to age limit, preferably 3-5 young and old. Though it’s hard for me to stretch pass 3, but I’m open for exceptions if someone really stands out to me and not a lot of people do as potentials 🤔

+1 yI prefer we be the same age or within 0-4 years. I’ve made a few exceptions where they were 5-8 years younger/older (20-32) depending on my age at the time. I just really need someone old enough to go in the casino 21+ but also way closer to my age than my parents. My parents are 49 and 51

Anonymous(25-29)+1 ySo I’ve had something with a guy 14 years older than me. My now tap out limit is 8 years older than me and for younger I would only say a year or two. That’s it. I like a guy that’s a little older for protection the same way some guys look at younger women for fertility.

+1 y27 to... really depends on how well she takes care of herself. My old assistant instructor was in her early 60s and had a body fit to be on the cover of Oxygen magazine or Runner's World or something like that. Mentally, that's SO contingent with the actual person. I know people that have been on the planet as long as I am that are still mentally children. Two of my exes are 10+ years younger than me... just varies.

I feel like an older woman tends to want a man with a stable income at the minimum and has a confident aura that puts her at ease knowing he can be relied on. She wants a rock. Those are the things she KNOWS she wants.
The thing she usually doesn't realize she wants is chemistry. Chemistry in my opinion is similarities. Similar interests, views, way of thinking, communication style, sense of humor, etc. - +1 y
Ah! Interesting. Though I think your list on chemistry is surely what you look for regardless of age?
I definitely want a "protective" man. Maybe a "rock" like you say? This is not age based. A younger guy can be that to me as much as older. It's about the way he carries himself regardless of age. When I was younger I was subconsciously looking for a man to be the father of my children. So a provider. Protector. A manly man. And my husband was older than me by 12 years. But he wasn't what he appeared to be and I ended up having to make all the decisions and "mother" him. So yes I want a man who can take care of me. I don't mean wealth. I am independent. My kids don't need a father. I want a man who makes me feel like his and only his. Who is open to being fun and daring, not stuck in their ways. I am attracted to younger guys now for this. - +1 y
Yeah chemistry is what all girls want. But I find a lot of women don't even realize they want that, especially when they're younger.
The first part was the more intended part for the older woman. I think I have some of the last part. "Open to being fun and daring." But to be fair, I am stuck in my ways in some aspects. I think most people... not just men... are once they get to around 25ish. - +1 y
That could be fear of change in part. I had fear of change most of my life. But when I hit 40 and after recovering from my last abusive relationship I now embrace change. And I try to face my fears not run from them. I have a long way to go but I am changing and evolving. I started a degree last year too. Have changed jobs three times in two years. I am not going to sit in an unhappy situation ever again. You are ultimately in charge of your life. Not saying its easy. Or risk free. I like you say you are still open to fun and daring. You probably are almost perfect 😄. You have grown enough to realise the importance of some routines and habits. But still could throw caution to the wind now and again to break out of the mundane. With the right person! Which also makes it more fun!
- +1 y
I don't think I fear change in that regard. I've worked a ton of jobs and left them because I didn't like the work environment. I've worked a few construction jobs, some retail and sales door knocking jobs, photographer, warehouse jobs, and digital marketing.
I've decided I can't stand working for people that don't value you and wouldn't care if you died the next day.
I meant change in terms of my mindset and views on life. I'm pretty hard set in those at the moment. It would be pretty hard change my opinion on a lot of stuff
+1 y21-40 but the young ones need to look a little older and the old ones need to look a little younger so it doesn't look odd. I can't abide young people going with older men who look like their dad
