My first thought is he's probably tryin to hide somethin by avoiding answering directly and changin the subject. Why else would he react all smug like that? Makes me think maybe he's been seein other girls on the side if he can't give you a straight answer.

I'd say trust your gut on this one. His behavior sounds real suspect. Anyone who has nothin to hide would just say when like it's no big deal. The dismissing and deflecting is a red flag.
