Seems like it DOES matter to him. He wouldn't feel the need to ask if it truly did not matter. He says one thing but his actions say another... be weary of this man. Move slowly into things, as already this is a situation where his actions are not matching his words and that can lead to manipulation very easily.

Your background and your personal life is YOUR life. This man is new in your life, and you do not need to share anything with him you do not want to. You are both interested in each other, and if you don't feel comfortable disclosing the answers he is seeking, then don't.
