It really irks me but why are glasses on people used to depict weakness? Which I think effects how attractive people are viewed for dating?

I grew up seeing this represented in TV, books, comics and movies. I thought it had gotten better but I am still seeing this stereotype! Some examples... in Spiderman he is this needy weak kid with glasses. Gets his superpowers and boom. Bye bye glasses. I know it makes sense that he now has good vision but still. With Superman... glasses make him generally unattractive and nerdy to hide as Clatk. Remove glasses. Boom. Sexy strong powerful Superman. In anime, I'm watching Blue Exorcist and the "demon" strong brother no glasses. His "weakling" powerless brother... glasses. I could go on. I think only character who goes against this stereotype is Harry Potter cos he becomes a hero strong character and retains wearing his glasses. (J. k Rowling is awesome at this.)

Because it is true. Look at the science of how all of the muscles in eyes function. Glasses cause you to use the wrong muscles and changes the shape of the eye ball. When ever you read the eye test chart, you are being trained to focus incorrectly. The entire industry is a lucrative scam. Glasses should only be used as an emergency until the root cause of the vision issues are corrected and then they are tossed into the bin.

But since they are being used to weaken the vision of the entire nation and they are physically and mentally making your vision weaker. They are making everything else weaker too because vision is one of our most important senses spiritually and in life. It even effects memory and visualization capability in the mind. What you are seeing in movies is the truth about glasses being shown in plain sight.

Every time you visit the optician they give you a stronger prescription because your eyes are getting weaker. My friend who discovered this scam after most of her life, who is now rebuilding her eyesight. Is now starting to use weaker prescriptions as her eyesight gets stronger as the muscles and brain start to align back to their original purpose. Nutrition also comes into play as well. Even the amino acid taurine... alone is powerful enough to increase eyesight and reverse some of the progress of cataracts.

People just don't realize the full extent of what glasses were created to really do.

I absolutely believe you! My sister and I were both prescribed glasses as kids. She is one year older than me. I wore my glasses diligently and my eyes got worse and worse and worse! She refused to wear hers and her eyes got stronger. Also... my youngest daughter has great eyesight yet got prescribed glasses at like age 9. By this optician brand company that I noticed seems to prescribe glasses for all kids! So I was suspicious. Took my daughter somewhere else. Eyes perfect! No need for glasses!! I thought the scam was ti get money off the government as here in UK kids get glasses and eye tests paid for through NHS?

The scam is not just to get money. Everything has been designed to weaken us because we are powerful beyond measure (through God). Most of us have no idea but those who know are afraid.

I was prescribed glasses when I was younger and just decided to throw them away. I am almost 50 years old and my vision is perfect. I can see in the dark, notice ants on the pavement when out walking in medium light, see the tiniest flies and much more. My friend who listened to the opticians has -20 vision in both eyes but I am helping her to correct that and she will have perfect vision soon.

When they attack spiritually they always start with the children so the children of the children often have no idea.

It is something that maybe used to be real. When I was a kid there was only 2 kids in the whole class that wore glasses. Nobody had health insurance and the school used to do a scree ug test that just about everyone could pass. As a result only kids that had really bad eyesight got glasses and they could not play sports like the other kids because the glasses might get broken. It made Tham look weak. It became a stereotype.

I always assumed that it is used because it is a nonfactor. It is a near meaningless element that we can add to anyone to alter perception.

Glasses are also used to showcase intelligence, maturity, refinement, being cool, suave, and more.

Personally I find its quite an attractive accessory. But like with wearing anything there is choice in how we portray ourselves. Not all glasses signify weak nerd.

I always thought it was meant to depict smartness, which is of course an equally lame stereotype. You have the tough fighter guy with muscles and to give him more depth, he gets to wear glasses.

By the way, Harry Potter could only keep his glasses because Hermione always stood by with the oculus reparo spell. :-)

When peter parker gets his powers, all his senses are cranked to 11, including his eyesight, so he no longer needed glasses.

Superman's glasses are stupid because its his "disguise" 😂 but your complaint about it makes no sense because his strength or build doesn't change with them on, and he looks otherwise exactly the same.

Haven't seen blue exorcist or harry potter.

But that's the whole point with Superman He is EXACTLY same guy but women go crazy over him without the glasses and overlook him with. The very fact that the only necessary "disguise" needed to make him unnoticeable and unattractive to women IS glasses. And it's only later that Lois Lane starts falling for him - the real him- regardless of the glasses. But it depicts - maybe honestly- that people with glasses are overlooked until their personality shines through. But in todays very instant-image obsessed dating world the image that glasses = weakness/unattractiveness is still prevalent.

No, women go crazy over superman because he has superpowers.
In most versions of that character, the glasses stop anyone from knowing that clark is superman, so clark is seen as just a regular dude, and in the DC universe, his body build is common, his face type is also common, there is even an animated episode where clark pretends to be batman, and while in batman's suit, the art looks the same, and even braniac couldn't tell the difference until the suit burned off.

Which brings me to my next point, people should know bruce is batman and nightwing is dick greyson etc etc., and they don't, despite disguises that aren't glasses. Nightwing for example has a cool looking eye mask, but its used in the exact same way glasses are in the series with the exact same effectiveness.

You are overthinking mechanics behind fictional characters, it has nothing to do with attractiveness, thats not even a focal point in superhero comics (the fights and catastrophies are), its meant to be funny because glasses are a stupid disguise and everyone should just know its him, but they don't.
Same goes for the tons of other silly disguises in that series.

True. But it should not mean they are weak in character or strength or make them overlooked as a potential partner? And I get we are attracted to what we are attracted to so there is no escaping that initial reaction when you see someone. But I think the stereotype enforces that thought so the initial reaction is always going to be negative.

I agree. It is a physical disability and nothing else. FYI I use glasses since I was 7. And they have become a part of me
