Is there a difference between messaging someone through social media vs texting them?

I feel like texting them is more personal, because you have access to their actual phone number. Most of my friends that I talk to on social media doesn’t actually have my current number bcs those friends aren’t my closest of friends.

If you don't have their socials then texting them would be through SMS so through your phones "messages" and not through any social media.

But If you have their social then it's the same thing.

If you have their different socials for example Facebook, Instagram etc and you are texting them on more than 1 social media accounts then asking is fine.

If you only have their 1 social media then don't ask, it's weird to ask

Okay. They didn't respond when I asked them that. Do you find it weird that when I asked them if their phone number was still the same they said yes yet didn't respond when I asked if I could text them. It kinda made no sense to even respond to that first message
