Who do you think gets jealous easier/faster: girls or guys?

Girls! Not only faster but, over the stupidest things you can imagine! I was at a party one night back in `81 one warm summer night and a few of us were sitting in the open garage talking under the stars. I started talking to some girl and I seem to recall her boyfriend being right there, too. We were all sitting in folding chairs. After a good long while, this sexy girl in a mini skater skirt came out to our particular circle to ask this guy something. They were just casual friends. For all I knew, they only just met at the party a while before. While she stood there asking him whatever it was she was asking, she casually reached under the back of her skirt and pulled the elastic leg bands of her panties out of a crease in the base of her ass. Apparently, they were digging into her skin, as they are won't to do from time to time, and his girlfriend saw this and went off the deep end over it claiming that she was flirting with him and that they were fucking around behind her back!! She got into a very heated argument over it with him and, from what I recall, broke up with him! I saw her on a bus a few years later and she told me that she broke up with him and had a fight with the panty girl, too!! All because she just needed to adjust her panties!!

I used to have a pool in my back yard and saw dozens of girls do that with the leg holes of their bathing suits in front of everybody! No one else says a word or thinks anything of it. It's no big deal and class doesn't enter into it.
The girl at the party was wearing a skirt to cover it up. It only took a second. She just stuck a finger under each band and quickly ran it up towards her hips. It's such a mindless task, I seriously doubt she even knew she did it `til the other girl said something. I do it a lot, myself, when I've been sitting for a while and then stand up.
I would say it's the other girl's fault for making a huge deal out of nothing.

I'm going to lean towards guys on this one. Men can be so jealous of a girl they like talking to another guy she's just friends with, that he will even try to tell her to stop talking to him. Guys who are weak and not very secure in themselves or their ability to attract women tend to get jealous easy and will be very possessive of a girl.

I've had LOTS of trouble getting a girlfriend but, when I have one, I'm CERTAINLY NOT jealous if another guy talks to her! There's not a damn thing wrong with it! Besides, I'm sick of women that feel they can't even LOOK at you just because they're attached!! WHY do you HAVE to give up your life and stop being civil JUST because you have someone that fucks you on a steady basis?
My ex-fiance didn't mind me talking to other women and I didn't mind her talking to other men and we got on great together! The ONLY fight we had in those 10 years had to do with me having a bad cold! In the meantime, I'm ALWAYS hearing other couples fighting and screaming at each other because he LOOKED at some other woman for a second or she smiled at some other guy! THOSE are the insecure people!
My uncle, Jim, was the worst of the lot!! My aunt couldn't even go to the fucking bathroom IN MY HOUSE without him following her and waiting outside the door for her to come back out!! The room was about twice the size of a phone booth with no windows or other doors and no place to hide another man!! AND, it was right beside the kitchen table where we'd been playing cards all night!!
I remember, at their wedding, she was dancing with a long time family friend of hers who prefers to hold his dancing partner close to him. Everybody knew this and had no problem with his dancing style but Jim was ready to start a fight with him at his own wedding because he didn't like the way he was dancing with her!

@FunkyMonkee It's great that you're okay with it. In my experience though, a lot of guys try to control their girl because they're worried they can lose her to some other dude. So they will tell her to stop talking to him. But even men who don't quite have the girl locked down yet will also try to influence her to go cold on another guy she knows who's friendly with her.

I also notice it mostly tends to be the macho men who think of themselves as tough who are like this the most, which always puzzles me because I'm like 'well, if you feel like you're such the man who can get the ladies, why do you need to control them? What are you worried about?'

A lot of guys do not realize that their weakness can be seen through their actions or REactions.

@ManOnFire true. But women are much more prone to sh*t testing men over this. Especially if they feel that they aren’t getting enough attention and want to “test” the man’s feelings.

They get a societal pass for this crap too. Men don’t get the same leeway to sh*t test women by trying to make them jealous. It’s considered cruel and immature when men do it to women. But vice versa is “okay”.

It’s a cruel sh*t test for men though. If they act like they don’t care at all then the woman might conclude he has no real interest in her. But if the man gets visibly upset then it’s a sign he might be “weak, insecure or controlling”.

It all comes down to how the woman goes about this. Did she intentionally flirt with another man in front her boyfriend/husband? Or did she just get in a innocent conversation with another man who had zero idea she was taken?

Also some women LOVE IT when their boyfriend/husband gets upset and jealous. It’s a power trip for them. Vice versa isn’t societally acceptable though.

@red324 true. But it’s still a “damned if you do damned if you don’t” scenario. If the guy doesn’t care at all he risks being labeled “a cuck”.

Bottom line is women have a MAJOR role in this crap because they often set this up as a sh*t test just to see how their boyfriend/husband reacts. But if a man does that to a woman he’s considered selfish and cruel.

I don't think gender is a strong factor in how easily someone becomes jealous. I think it is a factor in how that person responds to having their jealous feelings triggered.

Guys do but we internalize it more. Having a devoted girlfriend or wife is not only a biological urge any healthy man has but it’s also tied to his social viability. If she’s flirty with other men it’s an insult to him.

Also nobody laughs at, mocks or tells a woman to “chill out” when she’s upset and jealous. She doesn’t look “pathetic” the same way a guy can in these scenarios. Also it’s considered cruel when men intentionally try to make women jealous but vice versa is a form of sh*t testing women do occasionally. They test men to see how they are supposed to react.

But justified or not when a man gets visibly jealous it’s either a sign he’s too emotional or worse controlling.

Good question, but it's impossible to answer really.. It depends on the dynamic of the relationship. A guy who has never been jealous in his life can suddenly meet a woman who drives him to rage with jealousy, and vice versa.

I've been in one relationship over the years where I got jealous. I had reason to ( but that's a different story) where as several woman have demanded to know every movement I made (despite me never cheating on any of them)

Therefore if I use my experiences as a gauge, I'm going with women are more jealous, but like I said up there, it really does depend on the dynamic.

Depends on the nature of the relationship, really. In terms of no connection to moderately intimate, men get jealous more easily. In terms of very intimate, committed relationships, women get jealous more easily. Both are results of evolutionary biology.

It’s not a gender thing, it’s a personality thing. There are “the jealous types” who obsess and pick on or question every little thing out of fear of losing the person they claim to love.


But love is based on trust, which many guys and girls understand and don’t entertain feelings of jealousy easily.
