What childhood misconceptions about dating have you now realized aren't true?

Back when I was a kid I used to think meeting someone you'd fall in love with would only happen with people you've met face to face, and that the woman or person you're wanting to be with would only like to be with you if you were exactly the definition of what most women or people find attractive. Now I've realized that doesn't always have to be the case.
