I don't understand 2024 "dating"?

This guy used to flirt with me on instagram, we have never met but have communicated on there several times years ago. Recently I had my heart broken so I messaged him "hey" to see what he's been up to. He asked me to add him on Snapchat so I did and then told him I don't really snapchat people so I'm not great at it, he said "well I bet you're still hot so it doesn't matter", then I sent him an unfiltered picture of me and said "I guess but kind of old now" (jokingly), he replied "I don't think you look too bad" (or something along those lines can't remember exactly). It wasn't the response I expected and I felt hurt. I told him, "well maybe instead of snap chatting me like we're 16 year olds you should take me on a date" he replied "maybe" and then I deleted him because I'm sick of wasting time. A day later he messages me on instagram like this... I don't know what to think... hanging out getting drinks at 8pm on a Monday?

You suggested to him that he should take you on a date. He asked you out on a date, and then you replied “I’ll have to think about it.” And then you followed up with the classic line that every neckbeard incel says “you’re probably not interested.” So do you want a date or not? Even I found your banter a little immature.

Men in real life are not like men in the movies. They’re not always going to go all out on romantic overtures, and most are not going to put up with wishy washy behavior for very long. Know what you want and let your “yes” be yes, and your “no” be no.

She should feel free to say "I'd love to go out with you, but during the week is really rough for me - can we make it a weekend night?" It's totally fair to set a boundary, but you also need to show clear interest.
