Absolutely. I already know this girl from the past so it only felt right offering that. If it was a girl who was a stranger I probably wouldn't have done the same. Did I actually ask her out? My wording might have left room for misinterpretation.

So knowing that you were friends from the past, kind of changes things, but not really. She MIGHT think you're interested in catching up on the old times. But with you offering to pay for her childcare, she shouldn't be making that assumption. She SHOULD know you were asking her out. But it's maybe possible she just thinks you're overly nice and looking to catch up. 1% chance in my opinion

You made a great point. I wouldn't say we were friends however. I was interested in her from the start and she knew because I made it very clear. We stopped talking because of me, I must admit. Years passed by and we added each other on social media. I took it as she was open to reconnecting. I took a shot and I guess I missed because she didn't respond to that coffee date. Clearly she isn't interested and that is her prerogative
