a close friend said I am too nice which can turn women off
I get that... we always do put our best foot forward when on a first date but I think ultimately the real you has to come out so why not start out that way. Saves a lot of time and heartache I think.
You maybe dating the wrong women... being nice is always a good dating strategy in my opinion.
