I think it can, but I think it's uncommon. I can't really speak for others, but I wasn't initially physically attracted to the man I married, actually. I wasn't repulsed or anything, I just wasn't like "Wow, that guy is hot". I wouldn't have noticed him on a dating app.

It wasn't until we got to know one another as friends and coworkers that I began to notice attractive things about his body. Once he came close to me because he was reaching for something, and I thought I was going to pass out because of the chemistry. Then, one day he showed up with this neatly trimmed beard and my stomach flipped (I am not a beard girl and that doesn't work for certain guys. But it did good things for his face...). I felt almost shy. Then this other woman told him she liked his beard and I was fuming...(how dare she! Mine.) :D

I also think about the girl-next-door that no one pays attention to. Then she gets fixed up and suddenly all the guys are like, "Oh. Whoa... she's actually pretty, too...". It's like a switch gets flipped...

I think the personal connection gets us in proximity, the physical attraction draws us romantically, and the soul keeps us.

Well, it's like this. I got spam calls yesterday. 23 in about 3 hours. I called and asked this guy to put me on do not call list. This morning, well, the count now is 11-12 from the same company. I had a nuclear meltdown. I would kill, right here in writing , him as slowly as I could. He will not leave me alone. Every number is different and says nothing. I called back, and when he answered, I betrayed myself and started hollering obscenities until he hung up. I called 3 more times. Heh, they have me blocked, but still, they keep calling me.

True Love. A myth of massive proportions. At least I thought so.
Then I met this Mexican girl born here. 20 years younger than me. A year and nine months ago was when I met her. She played loud music as we went to Houston. Every time. Until the 3rd or 4th trip. Then she asked me where my kids and wife were. So I started telling her why I had none. On the way back, I started drinking and telling her the harsh things. Hearing her sniff, I looked over, and she was crying for me. I said that I'd shut up. She snapped. No, tell me. So I continued on. Over the next 3 or 4 trips, once a month, I would fill in where I left off. The way she talked to me. When we'd part, I slipped and said I love you." She said it back. Then, I don't really know, but she is my best friend. All my old friends are dead. But she is the best. I've cried, she cried, and she still says she loves me. She's the best, and to be honest, I want her. I want to tear her up. She has dozens of friends. I know she was feeling sorry for me with sympathy. But she feels better than anyone I've ever known. She knows everything that I hid with shame, and it only made her closer to me. 20 years apart is a mountain to get past. But just having her as a close friend is way better than nothing. I love her.

We're friends 11 days shy of 20 years apart. She is so pretty, her eyes especially. But we are just friends. Although I thought she wanted more and I think she thought I did to a week and a half ago. 😇 But I think she was thinking that she was being kind. But the only reason I thought that was because I thought she felt that way. It's like she was giving little signs that I was overlooking. Why? Because she is about to turn 42 me 62, plus she is very pretty. So we went round and round, and finally, I told her in very pitiful, spelled text because I had got drunk over the whole mess.
