Why am I so shallow?

I have never said this out loud in real life to other people but I have just thought it in my head repeatedly.

There is nothing bad about this girl’s personality but I keep thinking her boyfriend should not have chosen this girl as a date because she isn’t pretty enough and he could definitely land a prettier girl.

Whoa girl, don't be so hard on yourself! First of all, there's no such thing as pretty "enough." Everyone has different tastes and what matters most is finding someone you connect with. And it's not cool to judge someone just based on looks. Maybe that guy likes her cause she's super sweet and fun to be around, you know? Looks fade over time but a good personality is what will last.

Instead of worrying about what other couples look like from the outside, be happy for people who found each other. Don't compare your worth to anyone else either - you're amazing just as you are! True confidence comes from loving yourself. And try not to obsess over stuff out of your control - focus on treating people with kindness instead of what you think they "should" have. I'm sure you've got tons of great qualities too that someone will appreciate one day. So chin up - true beauty's on the inside where it counts!

I don't know, I think everyone is a little shallow, but if you think the trait to too strong in your personality, you can always work to change it. (Practicing empathy, actively finding the aesthetic and personal beauty that the people around you hold, focusing on judging people by their actions and words, rather than their looks.) I think you might be struggling to understand this couple because you haven't let yourself see the positive traits that this woman possesses. First thing to do it leave behind the assumption that everyone values the physical appearance of others the most.
