How do you get out of a situationship?

Have you ever been in a situationship? If yes, what did you do for get out of it?

well it's a pretty big problem to be sure. but i think you have to go to the cause of situationships. automatic child custody, division of assets, child support, alimony, spousal support, loss of home, reputations, time, freedom due to false allegations, risk of suicide, risk of death by cop, forced therapy (brainwashing), and then you also have dating imbalance. women expect men to pay for everything despite now women are more likely to out-earn men, they'd rather share a top 10% man than be monogamous to one. women are allowed to have unlimited sex and they aren't supposed to be judged, while if men have unfavorable sexual experience they are judged.

so basically women expect to be able to enter a relationship with a highly valuable and rare male, bring nothing with them, and then if they decide to leave, ruin him and take huge percentages of what he worked for.

and the issue isn't how many would or do, do that. the issue is that every woman CAN do that.

how would you treat dating in that environment if men could do all of that to you without even being criticized and on top of that they complained that it's not enough?

yeah i don't think you'd be very eager to jump into commitment, either.

so... to answer the question... get rid of ALL that shit i just said, and you get rid of situationships.

Yes. I got tired of the uncertainty and finally told him that I want an actual relationship and if he’s not on the same page then it’s okay but I won’t be sticking around. Basically gave him an ultimatum. I approached him gently about it, and asked if there was anything that was stopping him from committing. I also gave him time to think about “us” and what he wanted. We discussed our expectations of what we want in a relationship and if we’re capable/willing to fulfill those expectations.

No, I have not. The best way to end it is to define what you actually want from a relationship. That way each person has a clearer idea of where it's going and will promptly stop using the other to fill some kind of gap.

"Situationships" (I hate, hate, HATE that stupid word so much) are wrong and we need to delete that word from our cultural vocabulary.

Depends on the situation. The best thing if there is toxicity is for one to cut the other off. Even if you don’t wanna hurt the other toxic person. If both people are being toxic if they really cared for one another. They would do what’s best for the other, but also themselves

Just say if you aren't going to be my boyfriend I am moving on. If he makes excuses or tries to keep you in the same position block and delete him on everything. Do not go back even if you love him.

If you don't like him and just want out just block and delete. Done.

Confront your person. Tell him/her why it's not working out, be direct and honest but also be respectful about it too. Use "I" statements instead of "you" statements. Then just cut off all communication. I suggest blocking for a time. Whatever you do make sure to not get involved with this person emotionally to avoid a situationship all over again

You just tell the person that you aren't down anymore and you stop participating in the situationship. Enforcing boundaries gets easier with practice.
