Is cheating and lying common with bp 1?

I naively fell for his confessions of wanting to be with me when he was secretly with this other girl and ended up in a relationship with her. He blamed it on a manic episode. It didn't last long between them. He was in mania and jumped into a relationship with her, he ended up in a mental hospital for three weeks.

I blocked him and eventually I went back as I needed closure or answers. 😬 He still swears he wants me, and that he's never wanted someone ' so sincerely.' And then he pushed me away again.

I do genuinely still care about him although he hurt me deeply.. I don't know what to do anymore now he's pushed me away again.

It hurts a lot knowing what he did.

When truly diagnosed with disorders in the psychosis spectrum, what you describe is very common, and your powerlessness is expected, due to a large lack of understanding of psychosis from the general public, sadly. Psychosis is severe, it is, yes, commonly affecting judgement, feelings and perceptions. It can create hallucinations of various kind as well. People suffering from it experiences disconnection from reality. So, at the very least, you need a strong mental resistance to live near psychosis, and even when you have this resistance, you will be in trouble when manic phase strikes ! To tell you the truth, most people suffering from psychosis are mostly romantically involved with people also suffering from psychosis. That seems inevitable :/

Very interesting. I noticed he had a lot of delusions, including thinking that he conceived my soul. He also doesn't think he suffers from psychosis much. He is taking meds and is in more stable moods, but he has pushed me away. I have a lot of compassion for him but was worried he is manipulating me. I don't think it's very clear due to the bipolar, how malicious his intentions actually are

Yes, there can be all sorts of delusions possible sadly.
In fact, there is no true malicious intents conceivable because malicious supposes a balanced enough ability to judge right and wrong. Experiencing disconnection from reality may disable this judgement partially at least. And what it means for you is that you can't trust his judgment fully in all times, that's the reason why a relationship cannot be really maintained/functional :/

I think I love him too much to care and am actually weird enough to handle it, even if It never works out or he says those things like wanting me badly during mania only. I don't think I've delusions but often feel I'm only one foot in this reality another some place else.

You're welcome, you have enough informations now to consider the situation clearly, so I won't insist. Just, please, protect yourself, don't stay alone in this. It needs a great deal of family and friends to compensate. Also consider bringing this topic to nurses of the mental hospital he was in. They are trained to answer your questions and help relatives of people suffering from psychosis.

Thanks I appreciate it. Usually when I ask people they can't believe I actually went back to him after everything. Sometimes I can't either. It would be nice to have someone to talk to about it though

It's normal they can't believe it, because this illness is met with a lot of taboo, a lot of avoidance, and ignorance. That being said, avoidance is not without reasons, as I told you. You don't have to save someone, and you can't anyway, especially not in the severe case that you describe.

You need to block his ass and never look back. Because what's Happening is you're being manipulated and you're falling for it cause you got feelings

Yes. I was his friend I really didn't want to believe he could possibly be a manipulator or even a 'narcissist' I went into complete denial , yes I know it's dumb.

I want to believe there's goodness in him, I want to think it was due to extreme mania. I want to forgive and accept his apology. But now he's pushed me away and seems to be purposely ignoring me, I just can't take this anymore it's too hurtful. He is clearly still monitoring my socials and trying to avoid me on purpose. It's weird mind games and I find myself excusing it all because he's bipolar.

It depends on Bipolar disorders, they can be with or without disconnection from reality. When there is disconnection involved, then this specific type of mental illness will explain many many shitty behaviours de facto
