Okay so last night I met up at the restaurant with a guy that I met on the dating app. He was very shocked that I’m actually 6’4”. He’s 6’6 and he shook my hand and looked at me up and down. All he did was asked about my height and all that height BS and nothing about ME. I asked about him. He did ask about me, just about my HEIGHT. I was DONE! He said he couldn’t be with a woman that’s as almost his height I and he thought I was lying about my height and expected me to be under six feet. He made rude comments about how masculine my height is and women who are shorter have a better time snagging a man than a woman my height. After we paid. I just left. Then I blocked him. Dating is useless for me. I am DONE! I guess I’m just meant to be single. My best friend said, “I told you! I told you meeting guys online isn’t a great idea but you didn’t listen. I TOLD YOUR ASS!” I was like, “Okay okay! You don’t have to tell me you told me!!”

I’m sorry to hear that happened to you , sadly there are a lot of assholes in this world and selfish people that only really care about themselves , that have no dignity or respect for anyone but themselves. But don’t let that stop you from dating , cuz not every guy or girl is an asshole , it just seems harder to find these days. Especially on social media , I do blame social media for a lot of the reasons , why most people are selfish asshole people , I feel technology ruined how us people look at each other , and respect each other. Respect was pretty much thrown out the window ever since social media took off Sadly most people aren’t content and at peace with their lives anymore , like ot was before technology took off. I was a teenager in the early 90’s before people walked around with cell phones with internet glued to their hip , we weren’t bombarded by constant garbage and bombarded by a bunch of opposite sex people giving us options to choose from , when we met someone back then , we cherished that person more , because we weren’t bombarded by options. People actually valued each other more and relationships would last longer than how it is today. People didn’t really have a list of preferences that needed checked off for them to consider dating someone. Just like your date with that guy , that was concerned about height? To me that sounds like a horrible date big time. Yes everyone has preferences , but it seems preferences have become more important to people today , and that’s why this world is fucked up. Finding someone that actually loves from the heart is hard to come by because preferences is what matters most to most people these days. Like they are perfect and nobody else is. Selfishness is one of the biggest relationship killers , and sadly social media contributed to making people more selfish , by making oeople think grass is greener on the other side. Not realizing if they just water the grass they are already standing on , it will grow. So don’t give up on dating , eventually you will find someone that cherishes you the same way you cherish them , most of us experience bad seeds before finding a good one. Shorten your preference list and learn to remove selfishness , you will have a better chance at finding true love. As for your best friend , she is just trying to cheer you up even though it seems to you she is busting your chops , but that’s what friends’ are for.

1. I have used online dating and had great results. I had several long term (one year or longer) relationships. Then, in December 2020, I met Helen online and we started dating. We got engaged in March 2023 and married in April 2024. No, ALL online dating doesn't suck, it's not all a fraud, etc., but it does require a different approach.

2. Some tall people, just like some not-tall people, are jerks. The guy you met last night sounds like smega and a second date would have been a waste of time.

3. A good friend would offer you support instead of "I told you so." Tell your "friend" to go play with herself.

4. Obviously, your height will be an issue for some guys and you want to eliminate those guys as soon as possible. Take a picture of your self at the entrance to a business where they have a "ruler" on the door frame

5. Offer to meet a guy for a cup of coffee on a Saturday or Sunday during the day. That is a safer first meeting, less time, less expense, and if he freaks about your height, you haven't spend much time and energy on the guy.

First of all, your friend is an idiot, second of all, that GUY was not man enough to handle you, so in this case you come out as being the actual winner.
Do yourself a favor and first of all distance yourself from your toxic friend, second of all don't say you're done, tall women are just BOMB, don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure it will be amazing with the RIGHT MAN that is not scared to date ACTUAL WOMEN.

I am being honest. Try hooking up with a black guy. I know you are white, but it's natural these days to explore. They will not pester you about your height. You'll get to relieve stress and have short term fun, and relieving that stress will make a natural relationship easier to find. :)

Well yeah he’s rude and I’m sorry about that. It’s fine if a dates not working out be respectful especially over something you cannot control.

What matters to me is your heart. It’s best not to date online for those reasons though because you just don’t know who someone is and obviously he probably talks to women in real life and they don’t want him. That’s why he’s on there.

It’s also best to meet for coffee first. Much easier to dip then being stuck eating

Whether or not it's happening offline or online, there is  a need for you to select the guys , to talk with them beforehand, to understand the personality, the worldviews you are dealing with. Else you are just testing your luck, in that case really bad luck. I suppose  you don't make friends randomly?  So why dating should be any different you know.

I think dating today sucks because people have just been sold on the idea that love and dating are supposed to feel a certain way that it's not reasonable to feel. They don't know who they are themselves, and yet they're expecting to meet the perfect someone who is exactly what they need, right out of the box. They think they have more options than they actually do, and thinking about it all gives them analysis paralysis.

I think that's probably what happened with this guy you met last night.

I'm short, like 5'7". A bunch of my friends are around 6'4" to 6'7". When we used to go out to bars, I looked like the coach of a goddamned basketball team. It was like I was invisible to the girls, they were too busy gawking at all my tall friends. Most women want tall guys because they don't want short kids, think the tall guy is more masculine or a better protector, or they have daddy issues. It's kind of fucked for short guys because most short women don't want short guys, either. They are usually worse about wanting tall guys than the women who are of average height. Woooow. That has very little to do with the current toxic dating society, and all to do with that guy being an asshole.

You dodged a bullet with the date just being bad.

I at least talk with someone i can hold a conversation with for at minimum 2 weeks to a month before first date, that way i know if they are toxic. I also find it better to video chat with my interest, before first date. If they refuse to show themselves on live camera, it's a red flag.

As convenient as online dating is, there are methods to learn to weed out toxic & insecure people. I also recommend looking in gathering places of similar interests.

Wow I'm sorry. He's probably used to his height being an advantage in dating so when you're almost as tall as him it makes him feel like he'll have to impress you with other qualities and he probably didn't have any so he was uncomfortable.

Being tall is a disadvantage for you but you just have to find a way to still get what you want out of dating. Good luck :)

I'm very sorry to hear this happened to you. I know you've been having a rough time dating and experiences like this certainly don't make it any better. I think you should really consider dating men no matter what their eye is, rather than looking for a very tall men as you seem to have been doing. I think by looking for men that are taller than you are you probably rule out about 90 to 95% of the population. That is making things very tough on you.
