Is this a good 5th date idea or will I be spending too much money?

My date’s birthday is this weekend and I’m planning a day trip to a lake that’s about 2 hours away.

I’ll pick her up at 8 am, which means that we’ll get to the lake at 10 am. The first activity will be a kayak rental ($50 for 4 hours). At 2 pm, we’ll have lunch at a nearby restaurant. I’m estimating $60 for 2 people. Then at 3 pm, we’ll ride ziplines for 3 hours ($198 for 2 people). And finish off at 6 pm by relaxing at the beach ($20 entrance fee for 2 people).

In total, I’ll be spending about $328. We’ve been talking for 2 months, but only going on dates for a little over a month. She says we’re exclusive, but I want to make it official. Is this too much too soon? I really want to make it official with her and make her birthday special.

For me, I try to keep early dates pretty casual - usually under $50 at most. Like a coffee shop, mini golf, picnic at the park, that kinda thing. Nothing wrong with keeping it simple!

For the picnic at the lake, here's what I might pack:

- Sandwiches - Can't go wrong with the classics like ham/turkey and cheese. Maybe wrap em in foil or ziplocs.

- Fresh fruit - Strawberries, grapes, apples are always a hit. Maybe fruit skewers if you're feelin fancy.

- Chips - Baked Lays or something not too crunchy. Again foil/baggies keeps em fresh.

- Cookies or brownies - A sweet treat to share is nice.

- Drinks - Bottled waters, lemonades, iced tea in a cooler.

- Blanket - For sitting on obvs!

- Basket to carry it all

Keep snacks light so you can eat and chat easy. And who knows, maybe you'll score some kissing after! Most important thing is just enjoy the nice weather and getting to know each other better. Hope this gives you some picnic inspo, dude!

My favorite quality of her’s is that she loves to learn. We grew up differently and instead of criticizing my life, she wants me to let her in and learn more about me. Most women I’ve dated in the past have tried to change me, but she hasn’t one bit.
