Why won’t he agree to meet up with me?

I was added by a man on Facebook who claimed that he knows me and that I was once in love with him and told him so. He knows me, knows stuff about my personality as well that I hadn’t revealed online. I asked him to catch up for a coffee and he made an excuse not to meet me and denied that he was from my country.

Is it likely that he’s afraid that if I know who he is, I’ll block him? There were only two men I’d told I was in love with them. One was a racist ex boyfriend who’s now married. The other was a guy who claimed he was too shy to act on his feelings for me. Is it likely to be one of these two men?
